Home Cinema

After listening to comments about how good Blue ray was I decided to take the plunge and replace my old panasonic cinema system. I read numerous reviews and eventually picked this sytem. It was very easy to set up and easily linked up with my panasonic TV. When I first played ordinary DVDs on it the picture enhancement was really noticeable and Blue ray DVDs were fantastic. The sound reproduction was spectacular even in a medium sized room there was a real feeling of surround sound. Overall another fantastic piece of equipment from Amazon

Much better sound from Panasonic LCD tvs

I bought this set-up about 4 months ago to fit with Panasonic Smart VIERA TX-L37E30B 37-inch Full HD 1080p 100Hz Internet-Ready LED TV with Freeview HD which has a superb picture but decidedly average sound.It is based around a Panasonic Blueray player which gives a great standard dvd image and a superb blueray HD imageOverall I think it is a great product with just 2 flaws . . .1) when switched on it defaults to DVD; if you have left a DVD in the player and you have to wait until it loads before you can stop it and circumvent the player in favour of the input for the tv tuner [I use Virgin Tivo box for programmes] . . . there seems to be no way in which to make the tv the default so it is several clicks and about 30 seconds before the great sound from this unit is picked up by the tv . . . annoying but it does not detract from the overall experience;2) it is a 2.1 system that really needs a centre speaker to boost the dialogue and pinpoint where it comes from - this is my main concern with this system - dialogue can at times appear muffled and in need of a volume boost which in turn makes the music soundtrack in movies and dramas overly loud.Overall I think it is a good system but certainly short of great.If possible I guess I would give it 3 1/2 stars . . .

The quality of sound is very good indeed, and a substantial improvement on my Panasonic plasma TV's own sound. The integration between TV and sound system is very good. We quickly rationalised our rather complicated under-TV area so that the PS3 and the Humax PVR played through the sound system. Others have posted concerns that wiring up the sound system is difficult: actually it is straightforward but very badly explained in the manual, which is the typical Panasonic approach to making simple things very difficult to read.There are three issues:1. The sound system designers clearly felt that 90% of usage would be watching DVDs, but that's certainly not true in our house - we want to use the Humax to watch Freeview channels most of the time. Whenever the system turns on, the Blu-ray DVD is selected, and switching to the HDMI 1 input requires a rather laborious set of keypresses. There is no way to make HDMI 1 the default.2. Our Panasonic 46" plasma TV is around a year or so old, but has no output for quality sound. You can hook up the TV via DIN cables on the AUX channel, but the sound is very poor compared with HDMI. That's not the sound system's fault, but something to be wary of when working out how it might integrate with your TV.3. If you leave the sound system on unused for any length of time it very nicely closes itself down. But then it locks itself so that you have to switch to the sound system menu and unlock it before you can use it again. Until you are used to this behaviour it is easy to think that the sound system has failed.
