Bargain Quality Product Don`t miss it!!

This unit is a must if you want quality and clarity in playback! initialy bought it for it`s multi region facility with 3D capability to replace my Samsung 3D bluray player so as not to have 2 units the Samsung was only region 2 dvds and I have region 1&2 discs.My 3D tv is a Samsung you would think that the 2 matched perfectly, however the Sony unit is superior in its quality of playback and its upscaling ability is fantastic. Can it get any better Yes it can this Sony also has the ability to convert 2D discs to 3D giving them a great depth of field.Purchased from kkelectronics.co.uk who were speedy and good communicators. So pleased was I that I bought another one from them for the bedroom. Like i' said Don`t miss this product you won`t be dissapointed!

Update on Netflix 12 June 2013You get comprehensive file support and music/av playback with Sony.I have a Sony Bravia TV so it helps to coordinate the screen attributes using avforum reviews. They work well together and the XCross bar is less childish than the bouncing box of the Samsung Smarthub. Particularly when the Smarthub was so slow to load.DLNA-----Sony is quick to navigate though the server takes a while to propagate to the player. This means that the server may be greyed out on the XCross bar, and then I will spend 10 mins refreshing the server, restarting the wifi router to get access. The current firmware is 438, and they supply the player with 430, both having Cinavia DRM which blocks HD avi files which wont play on USB I believe. The SD avi files should play ok, though DLNA is affected by this firmware, when played through Twonky, Serviio and Homestream. I use TwonkyServer v6.0.39 with a Mac. I downloaded the Twonky 7.0 for mac and changed the player attribute file (xml) to enable playback of avi files.Taken from [...]For those who are having problems with Twonky, just remove the following lines from "Sony_Blu-Ray_Player.xml" On a Mac that is in the Twonky app, Unpack, and locate Sony_Blu-Ray_Player.xml in Contents, Resources, resources, devicedb Remove the code below.ADDITIONAL_MPEG_RESRestart Twonky and everything should be working again. I recommend Twonky particularly if you use Windows as Twonkyserver for windows is easier to use and update. I believe Serviio works well too. Both are paid for programs.Network Streaming----------------Netflix, and about 10 other video apps show up on the bar, but as I only use Netflix my comment is specific to this app. The Sony app is SD, although other apps apparently get HD (720p) and you certainly notice it. Its as bad as a shopping channel on a bad day, with hiccups and stutters in the audio channel, and lipsync problems. Maybe it was worse than usual tonight (Saturday) but it needs to improve as broadband of 30MBps deserves better performance. The app allows no adjustment, though you can navigate by zipping through the various scenes, but when you click play it lags so badly its not worth it for a few minutes FF.Set up was very easy, when you first access Netflix you get a code onscreen to input into your account at sonyentertainment.com and that links the networked player with your Netflix account. Its worth setting up that account in advance, so you can avoid using a remote as a keyboard.Update 12 June 2013 - Netflix can be improved by choosing HD performance in the settings. You can access this on the Netflix account page.Blu Ray/DVD-----------I am happy with the playback of Blu ray discs, but I initially had problems with the optical audio to amplifier. I havent sorted it out yet, but get very good effect from the phono cable (setting Audio to BD Audio Mix = on, Downmix = stereo).The multi region for DVD works fine, tested Region 1 discs.SACD-----I play SACD through the amplifier but any well recorded CD will play as well on my system. Well as far as my ears can tell anyway. But its good to know that I can play them when I wish. Unlike CD I cannot convert them to flac and stream.Photos------I did enjoy this feature streamed via Twonky. The player was well able to handle high resolution files and zip through thumbnails or flick between fullscreen photos.The player appears robust, and the drawer opens and shuts smoothly. I bought this too late for the Spiderman film deal, but negotiated a discount at my local av shop.
