Great speakers, but Disappointing Bluray Player

I've never written a negative review about an item on Amazon, but I did want to warn people about the issue that I had with this system upon receiving it. It's very easy to set up and use, and the sound produced by the speakers really is outstanding, plus the whole thing just looks fantastic and stylish. Unfortunately, the Bluray player has problems playing DVDs - not Bluray discs as far as I can tell, just DVDs. It started freezing in the middle of watching films, not only were most of them brand new discs with absolutely no scratches but no amount of cleaning seemed to help. It wasn't just getting stuck and then skipping, it would freeze and you had to eject it, put it back in and hope for the best! After a while, I also noticed that there was 'interference' for want of a better word in the picture, where the player was obviously struggling to read my discs properly.I returned the system within 30 days (Amazon customer service was brilliant), City Link picked it up the day after I made the request and delivered me an exchange the day after. I was sure it was going to work fine, and that the first one just had a fault, after all it's made by Samsung, a company which I've never had a faulty product from before. Unfortunately, it had exactly the same problem, and would just freeze in the middle of watching DVDs. I have now asked to return this one too, and am purchasing a different system instead.It's a shame, because I love the speakers, they look great and sound great. But the Bluray player just had too many problems to put up with. Also from a practicality point of view (this is my own fault though, should've thought about it properly first) the player stands on it's side (as you can see in the photo). This means that it's difficult to fit onto a standard TV stand because it's too high. But that's a minor point really.You could maybe buy the system and then also connect a different bluray player instead. But you'd have to keep this one out too, because it powers the speakers, and your TV stand would probably end up looking cluttered - I just decided that since I'd paid £300 for it, it really needed to be right, rather than having to find a workaround.

Amazing System

Firstly the blu ray player with this home cinema system is outstanding. It has an endless ammount of features and works well even when used without the supplied speakers. However the speakers supplied are of such a high standard that there is no reason not to use them. They sound just perfect. Blu rays load extremely quick and look and sound brilliant and it even makes old dvd's look nicer than on a regular dvd player. If you want a home cinema system don't think about it just get this one as you will not be dissapointed.
