Light weight & works on 64 bit PC's & Laptops

The Sony BDXS600U is perfect, tried two others before which were bad just didn't work.Personally I only had one main issue when I recieved it; the software disc which came with it offers a trial version of Power DVD 10 (Which I already had installed but was giving me messages that I was required to update to play Blu-Ray discs) uninstalled my version - installed the trial version which came with the Sony drive, that didn't work also was asking for me to update to be able to play Blu-Ray.I 'paid' for an update it began to crash straight away, I paid for Power DVD 11, uninstalled my expensive 2nd version of Power DVD 10; installed 11 'This crashed everytime' I tried to play a Blu-Ray film.Read up on Power Dvd on-line & found many many cases of Power DVD 10,11 & 12 crashing when came to the software being used for Blu-Ray playback.I kept my faith in Power DVD because before buying the Sony Blu-Ray drive, the software was so good for everything else (So much better & crisper playback)& was begining to think there was something wrong with my new Sony Blu-Ray drive; I bought Power DVD 12 that crashed everytime as well.I spoke to an I.T. technician I know very well personally plus also read up again on-line & both told me, the best by far - nothing compares Blu-Ray software for everything to do with perfect 3D, playback and burning was: COREL WinDVD Pro 11 & that I should stay well away from Power DVD software from 11 upwards.Bought a copy of Corel WinDVD Pro 11 installed it - no problems whatsoever, really fantastic piece of software, it kicks Power DVD to the kerb!!!!!!!

Convenient and effective

I'm pleased with this so far. It's very compact and light, competitively priced. It happily reads most blu-rays and DVDs that I've played, even if somewhat scratched - although I haven't used it to write yet.The supplied Cyberlink media suite offers a lot of options (but prompts for an upgrade if you want to listen in dolby 5.1). Bear in mind, too, that at about 20cm the twin USB leads are very short.

Why 2 USB cables? wrks with usb hub

Inconvenient when you have an ASUS computer and need another USB socket. Patricularly when the sockets are either side of the laptop. It must use two sockets in order to get enough current to write disks. So I am purchacing a powered USB hub PS Works with Uspeed 3.0 sspeed hub
