VFM one box solution
By Mod FD
Bought this to replace a still adequate Sony IAS system to upgrade to blu-ray and reduce the size of the sub-woofer which was a downside of golf ball size speeakers.Got this linked to a Panny 42" GT30 plasma TV which has a great picture and with a blu-ray through the BTT490, the picture is simply stunning..........we don't know anyone else with a better picture on their TV.Got the box linked with a Chord hdmi cable and a QED optical audio in. Sound is better than my old Sony but nothing like full size speakers and a separate surround amp etc which is bigger, clumsy and no doubt more expensive. So for its type and price, this is a great compromise (for the wife, I add!). 1000W also adds quite a punch........haven't tried the 25 virtual surround sound option yet. 5.1 output seems pretty good.Plugging into an ethernet connection (via a powerline) and you get great speed and easy system update. The set up was easy inc balancing the speaker outputs and the Viera link/connect system works fantastically well with the Panny TV.The Panasonic apps may be limited but with Sky HD anytime+, I'm not too fussed. With this box, the TV and sky all needing internet I've just invested in a switch box from Amazon so swapping between sources won't need cable swaps anymore.NB If you have a large room checkout the cable length limits for the rear speakers and the £70 odd wireless upgrade but then again with a bigger room you may be better off with bigger speakers anyway. Shortcutting the cables across the room under a carpet works of course but that won't work with wooden floors etc.£350 well spent and ticks all the boxes..............want better pictures.......unlikely from what I've seen.Want better sound, well spend more and gain more clutter etc I guess....but I'm happy with this thanks.

A few issues
By Phill Taylor
Got this system a couple weeks ago now to go with the Panasonic telly ( 50" ).Pretty happy with it. Would have liked a browser ability instead of VERY limited internet access allowed. The problem I have found and not been able to resolve, Forget Panasonic help line by phone or email no response despite manageing to get through on phone promised me they would get back with a response within 24 hours nothing.Problem one centre speaker will work on sound test only but not any other time From TV etc.Radio doesnt show any RDS info Previous Sony Did this on same ariel set-up.Rather a fuss to get ARC setup when switching on TV/sound system so TV speakers are turned down.Any help with centre speaker would be greatly appreciated.

Panasonic Surround Sound
By Stu
I had been looking for a Blue Ray Cinema Surround Sound system for quite some time, Panasonic had all the features that I wanted, but I was not prepared to pay the Silly Money they were asking, I also wanted Panasonic as It would match the TV we have and the DVD Recorder and hopefulkly all work in harmony. As a Lay man I found a certain amount of difficulty setting the system up, there was quite a lot of initials used which they assumed you would know what they were (Which I did Not) All the features on this system are first rate, the only one I have yet to set up is the VHF radio. which will probably need a better ariel, than the piece of wire that came with the systemPanasonic SC-BTT490EBK Full HD 3D 5.1ch Blu-ray Home Cinema System (New for 2012)
