Purchased this from another retailer at a considerable saving on the amazon price. I am delighted with this unit - picture and sound are a considerable step up from my previous Samsung Blu ray dating from 2008. I checked out all of the competition with similarly priced offerings from Samsung, Sony and Panasonic but I chose the Pioneer because of its understated looks, stronger build quality and no-fuss menus. I don't need the bells and whistles of its rivals.Delighted with my purchase, easy to set up, flawless picture and sound. Of particular note are the Continue and Time Search functions. I also discovered the Pioneer app that allows you to control the deck from my iPad. Wonderful.An earlier reviewer mentioned a noisy disc tray - not on my unit.

I chose this to replace a dated panasonic player.I thought I would move up to 3D eventually hence the choice. So far so good with 2D, will add to the review when I purchase the 3D TV

A very affordable DVD blurry player. would highly recommend it.Great picture and we use it with surround sound and have the pioneer receiver. Does not record but will upgrade later.
