I didn't buy this on amazon, but review a fair bit on here, so decided to write one here as well. This system has some good points, but unfortunately the bad points make it something you really need to stay away from.I could point out the good points, but frankly with the bad I'm not sure you'll really need to hear them. I found with mine that the first issue I had was that the Blu-ray failed to find my Wi-Fi network after working for two days fine, and so I couldn't stream content from my PC. And, of course I checked it wasn't the network. The second issue - and the main one - is the sound itself. The system is powerful, but just not well done at all. When I had issues with it I decided to compare the sound with my Bose companion 5 5.1 speakers, which while you'd expect quality from Bose, it is still a system that is the same price as the LG speakers. The transitional sound from left to right was far better on the Bose, and worse it even made me feel more central to the action than the LG system did even though the LG has 5 speakers and the Bose only 3.The real major flaw with the LG's sound though is the base unit - which is dreadful. Explosions, some music, and some other sound effects can overpower voices from the central speaker. You can compensate for this by adjusting the individual speaker volumes from the LG's system settings, but even after I turned the centre speaker all the way up, and the base well down I got the effect happening to some degree, and the other adverse effect of a less full sound at other points. This is only the bases units first issue though, and not the most annoying one. On some sounds at a certain pitch range it causes a horrible reverberation effect. To put the sound into words it sounds like "wah-wah-wah-wah". I played numerous movies through the LG and then played them through my Bose and the difference was night and day. The sound was better, and there was no distortion or reverberation on the base notes. In some scenes the LG's base unit made this sound when the scene was a queit one with nothing I could see that should be causing it. One example was in the movie Skyfall when it made the sound while in a quiet office scene where the only thing I could put it down to as being caused by the rooms ceiling fan. Very annoying, and shouldn't happen. In short I'm sending mine back hoping it's just a fault with the base unit, but I am fairly certain it isn't a fault. If it's not a fault then I would highly recommend not buying this system. It could have been fine if the base unit wasn't so badly intrusive.

I always look at Amazon first but bought this from Cu---- for £30 less.Returned it straight away.Sub woofer was appalling sounding like 2 bees buzzing in a tin can,and only played one disc before the tray jammed shut.Sticking with my Sony 10 year old 5.1 receiver and Mordaunt Short speaker system even if it means running wires round the skirting to the back speakers.

By HarvardAlum321
I purchased this newer (and more expensive) version of LG's 5.1 home cinema system in part because the rear speakers were supposed to be wireless. Amazon's description says this twice, but it's not true. Just to make sure that I wasn't missing any thing, I called LG, who confirmed that this device does NOT have any wireless speakers. Somehow LG and Amazon have mixed this up.Also, I confirmed from LG that there is NO NTSC to PAL conversion capabilities on this system also. So if you were thinking of using it to play any discs from North America, this is also not an option.I'm not sure who was responsible for listing this misleading information (whether it was Amazon's fault or LG's), but it's a bit disappointing that you can't rely on the descriptions given here. You may wish to consider getting the 2012 version of this, which is somewhat cheaper: LG BH7420P 3D Blu Ray 5.1 Channel 1100W Home Cinema System****Update***I did decide to try out the sound system itself. It is 1200 Watts so the speaker is very powerful--almost too powerful. If you live in a flat or in a semidetached house, you may not need the full 1200 watt system, because they are very powerful, and your neighbors will be hearing it as well. I've never even put the sound up more than half way, and at that level, my walls are literally vibrating.Navigating the system is not as user-friendly as Sony's sound system. I've noticed that the special effects come through very loudly, but the character dialog gets drowned out in the process. You can overcome this by going into the settings and turning down certain speakers and turning up other ones. There is also a special "clear voice" setting, but this helps only a bit. Other than sheer loudness, I'm not sure how this is an improvement over the 2012 model.
